Canoeing

Walking/Hiking
Walking enthusiasts can enjoy a vast network of trails ranging in length and difficulty, including the Canal Walk in Ballyconnell, forest trails in Killeshandra, the Castle Lake in Bailieborough, discover the delights of one of the many walks at atmospheric Dun a Rí Forest Park, Kingscourt, or the Cuilcagh mountains in North West Cavan just a few miles from Belturbet. ODD Gamespark
ODD Gamespark in Ballyconnell offers adrenaline-fuelled action by the bucketload! Marble Arch Geopark
Another must-visit attraction is the Marble Arch Geopark which has recently been expanded into Co. Cavan. Recognised by UNESCO, the Geopark offers stunning show caves and jeep ‘safaris’ as well as guided walks and activity days for all the family. Visit www.marblearchcavesgeopark.com for details.


Golf
Golfers are spoilt for choice with an 18-hole championship course at The Slieve Russell, Nick Faldo designed course at Lough Erne as well as the recent addition of nine holes designed by Jeff Howes at Farnham Estate,  and Cavan golf club which makes Belturbet an ideal location . The county also boasts a variety of 9-hole courses at Belturbet, Ballinamore, Crover House Hotel, Mountnugent; Cabra Castle Hotel, Kingscourt; the Park Hotel, Virginia; Blacklion and Belturbet.
We cater for groups of up to 18 people, making our accommodation ideal for a budget golfing break – group discounts are available.


Pubs & Live Music
With regular live music and a warm welcome, the various pubs in Cavan offer a rich choice for the person who wants to unwind into the later hours of the night. There is live music every Tuesday and Sunday night in Belturbet, and regularly on Friday and Saturday nights.

Cycling
Cavan is renowned for its rolling hills and beautiful scenery and is an ideal location for a serious cyclists or those who prefer going on a more leisurely jaunt. Belturbet is located on the Kingfisher route – click here for more information in the Kingfisher route.


Horse Riding
Redhills, Killykeen and Cavan Equestrian centres may be availed of by those who would like to try their hand at horse riding. Cavan Equestrian Centre Latt, Cavan, 00353, 49 4331800, is a family run centre open since 1983, it has proved successful in organising and running international performance sales and show jumping events. The Equestrian centre is in Cavan Town, just minutes from here. They run numerous horse and pony show jumping competitions from one day to six days. Boating
Belturbet is located on the banks of the Shannon-Erne Waterways, one of the the nicest stretches of water in the British Isles. Boats may be hired at very reasonable prices locally.
The River Shannon and River Erne are the two main river systems in Ireland, and are linked by recently restored Shannon-Erne Waterways, part of which passes through Belturbet.

Bear Essentials, Bawnboy, Co. Cavan.
Explore the gift shop at Bear Essentials, viewing the unique collection of limited edition Teddy Bears or participate in one of the many teddy bear workshops and events taking place. Take home your own handmade teddy bear. All year round family workshops, school tours and tour group presentations. All workshops and catering have to be booked in advance.
The collection includes artist bears, Steiff, Gund and Russ bears, bear accessories, teddy bear making kits, wildlife animals, soft toys, dolls, doll’s houses, candles, jewellery, hand-woven scarves, woodwork, baby gifts, cards, local photography and local paintings. Classes for children take place at Easter, Summer and Halloween.
